Get your dog's PhD at The Pet Campus, Inc.

We understand that no two dogs are the same. All dogs, like their owners, are different. Dogs without structure are more likely to be insecure, stressed and confused.  The Pet Campus, Inc. recommends the use of postitive motivational training. This is not just a matter of preference. Scientific research shows that it is the most effective method for animal learning. Animals (and that includes humans) learn faster and retain more readily when taught using positive reinforcement.

We feel very strongly that a successful relationship is created between dog and human by building trust and mutual understanding. We believe in and use humane training methods that enhance the communication between handler and dog . We teach our classes using positive-reinforcement based training and encourage the use of humane "people empowering" techniques in our classes. We do not use or tolerate harsh and inhumane punishment-based methods, as we feel that this type of punishment breaks down the relationship between dog and handler and in itself, escalates aggression.

When your dog says, "teach me" give The Pet Campus, Inc. a call!

Meet the Trainers PDF Print E-mail

Wendy J. Whitelam, Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers (CCPDT) started training her first dog at age eleven. She raised and trained eight puppies for The Seeing Eye, Inc. The German Shepherd puppy that she was given as a graduation gift turned out to be an intense training tool. After many bad experiences with "professional" trainers, Wendy vowed to learn as much as possible and to be the best, most humane trainer she could be. While completing college she attended training classes, read training books, and helped pay for school by working with dogs in their homes. Wendy worked with Delaware Valley Akita Rescue for twelve years assisting Akitas in need of rehoming.  After becoming disenchanted with the corporate realm, Wendy returned to dog training full time.  After creating a successful private training business Wendy moved forward to become the co-owner of The Pet Campus, Inc. Wendy has been nationally certified by the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers (CCPDT) . Wendy is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers , a licensed American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator, and volunteers at the local Society For The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) when time allows. Wendy continues to keep current via trade journals and books; she also attends classes, seminars and conferences throughout the U.S. and Canada.
